Welcome to the Dublin Chess Club
Dublin Chess Club is the oldest chess club in Ireland (founded in 1867). We are located in the United Arts Club at 3, Upper Fitzwilliam St., Dublin 2. This central south city venue offers convenient access – see location page on this site for full details.
Membership of the club is presently full and a waiting list for applicants is in operation. Submit the email form on our contact page and request an application form if you wish to go on this waiting list to join. A form will be emailed to you with information on how it is progressed. The waiting list is regularly reviewed as new places become available. Our members’ ratings vary from novice up to IM (CC) so that a competitive game is assured for members of all abilities. Dublin Chess Club has teams which compete in several divisions of the Leinster chess league. See the Leagues page of this site for more information or for contact details of our team captains. The Club also runs chess lessons for adults on a group basis. Advance notice and details of these can be found on the News/Events page of this site. Finally if you are on Facebook, please like our Facebook page. |

Facility
We are the only chess club in Dublin to have chess boards permanently set up and ready for play as shown in the photo of our playing room which is dedicated to chess.
Our playing room also features a large wall mounted chess display board which is used for analysis sessions. Being located in the United Arts Club, we enjoy that club’s excellent facilities, including: |
